Seventy teachers from Anthony Abel College (AAC) in Seria attended a first aid training course yesterday to learn proper life saving skills।On hand to conduct the training were Belait Red Crescent Association Commanding Officer Awang Haris bin Abdul Latip and National Red Crescent Association Training and Development Officer Jimmy Foo.
Foo said the course provides the skills and knowledge to undertake first aid duties at all times, while ensuring the first aiders feel confident and competent in their life saving skills.
During the course, teachers learnt basic first aid and how to treat some of the common injuries.
The teachers were also taught how to treat minor and severe cuts and scrapes, as well as tackle broken bones and other emergencies.
"Basically, first aid is a way to stabilise an injury until professional medical personnel arrive," added Foo.
The one-day course also saw the teachers learn CPR, which is a vital part of the first aid training.
